Made in the Midlands member County Fabrications, a metal fabrication company based in Leicester, is setting plans to move to a bigger facility to increase their workload capacity after an influx of new orders. Ian Ross, Director at County Fabrications, aims to find premises three times the size of their current facility as well as taking on new staff.
Whilst there may be ongoing economic challenges, UK manufacturing is thriving as well as reporting remarkable growth. In Made in Group’s recent ‘Growth Survey’ the majority of 114 participating industry leaders, reported growth over the last 12 months with a positive outlook for the year ahead. Made in Midlands, recently sat down with Ian from County fabrications who have also experienced tremendous growth during the last year or so.
Ian said: “Our sales pipeline is very buoyant and the opportunities are out there. With our current lease coming to an end, now is the perfect time to move to a new premises that is at least twice the size of our current place.”
Along with a bigger facility, the company is also looking to expand their workforce - currently they have around 20 people working at the company. Ian mentioned that it has been a challenge to recruit skilled staff which has encouraged the company to introduce a third apprentice to tackle the issue. In order to find skilled workers, Ian emphasised the importance of advertising on popular jobs platforms such as the Made in Group jobs board - a promotional platform specifically for the manufacturing sector.
Their plans to take on more staff, middle management level and another apprentice, highlights the company’s dedication to nurturing talent and addressing the shortage of experienced fabricators in the industry. In the future this will help bridge the ageing workforce gap within the employee base and allow the business to continue to grow. County Fabrications plans to obtain a new facility is an example of the thriving manufacturing sector and we look forward to seeing the company’s future successes.
